✅ PRO: Great Schools and Family-Friendly Vibe

One of the biggest reasons my clients move here is the schools. As a dad of three, I can personally vouch for how strong and well-run Glastonbury Public Schools are. I’ve been impressed not only by the academics, but also by the district’s focus on character development, communication, and extracurricular opportunities.

Glastonbury Public Schools consistently earn an A+ rating on Niche and are regularly ranked among the top districts in Connecticut. Glastonbury High School boasts a graduation rate of over 99% and offers robust AP and college prep programs.

From the start, I’ve appreciated how much effort goes into keeping parents in the loop. Whether it's newsletters from teachers, clear policies, or community events, you can tell this is a town that takes pride in its school system.

✅ PRO: Small-Town Charm with Access to Everything

One of the things I love about living here is how much of a “complete” town it is. I can run errands, hit the gym, grab groceries, and be home—all within 10 minutes. The town center has just enough variety to keep things interesting without feeling overdeveloped.

Locals love events like the Apple Harvest Festival, the weekly farmers market, and concerts on the green. And don’t get me started on South Glastonbury—on a lazy summer weekend, I love taking the kids to grab ice cream at Robb’s Farm or stopping by one of the local orchards for fresh fruit. There’s a rhythm to life here that’s both peaceful and well-connected.

✅ PRO: Outdoor Beauty and Recreation

My family spends a lot of time outdoors, and Glastonbury makes that easy. We’ve explored just about every trail at Cotton Hollow, and Riverfront Park is one of our favorite places for a family walk or a quick pickup soccer game.

The town maintains over 35 parks and recreational facilities and has more than 1,200 acres of preserved open space. Even driving through Glastonbury, you get that “open space meets New England charm” vibe that’s tough to replicate.

⚠️ CON: Price Point and Affordability (With a Silver Lining)

As much as I love living here, I won’t sugarcoat it—Glastonbury isn’t cheap. The median home price as of 2025 is just above $550,000, and move-in-ready homes often attract multiple offers.

But here’s the thing: homes in Glastonbury have a strong track record of appreciating in value. That means buyers who get in now often see meaningful equity growth over time.

When I work with first-time buyers, I usually suggest we move fast when a well-priced home comes up. That said, I always tell my clients: yes, it’s a financial stretch—but you’re buying into a town with top-tier schools, great amenities, and long-term value.

⚠️ CON: Car-Dependent in Most Areas

Unless you live in the town center, you’re probably going to need a car for day-to-day errands. While some neighborhoods are walkable, most homes are tucked into more suburban areas where driving is the norm.

Public transit options are limited, and Route 2 can back up during rush hour, especially near the Glastonbury–East Hartford line.

Personally, I don’t mind the trade-off because I love the quiet streets and extra space, but if walkability is a top priority, it’s something to keep in mind.

Final Thoughts: Is Glastonbury Right for You?

Glastonbury is where I chose to raise my family, and I’ve never regretted that decision. If you’re looking for a town with strong schools, community pride, and a balance of rural charm and suburban convenience, it should absolutely be on your list.

It’s not the most affordable option, and it’s not the most walkable—but for many families I’ve worked with (and for mine), it’s been exactly the right fit.
